Today I want to share with you a technique I am currently learning to help me remember a list of words. This technique is being taught to me by my coach Jim Kwik.
I struggle to remember names or anything dear and vital to me or someone else. I feel terrible when I can’t recall someone’s name or forget something important. Most of the time, I don’t have the time or the phone or notepad on hand to note down something, and even when I do, I don’t have it with me to retrieve that information when I need it.
I knew something had to change, and I wanted to find a better way to do this. That is when I came across the book by Jim Kwik called Limitless. If you also struggle with remembering lists and want to learn how you can do this. I want to encourage you to read on. This will save you so much time and money.
This technique is called Basic Association. In this technique, you logically connect a word with something. For example, if the first word of a list of words is called Sun. You want to think why the number 1 will be connected with Sun. So the association that you might want to make is that the Sun is the first, number one, thing that you see in the morning. Or you might associate the number one with Sun because there is only one Sun in the universe. Another example is when you must remember the word car as the 4’th word on your list. You might want to associate the number 4 with four doors or tires on the car, and so on you can continue with your list.
Basic association works when it is designed to work. In other words, you have to set up your list. Basic association you can use when you want to remember a list of things in order of numbers. You make a connection or an association with the number to the word.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this method. Do you use this method, or which other method do you use? Do you want to learn more about this, or might you want to know more details about this? Would you try this out yourself? Or maybe you don’t like this method? Whatever your thoughts are on this, I would love to hear from you. Comment on the comment section below.
