Will you let toastmasters light your fire within? Today I want to talk to you about how you can use toastmasters as a vehicle to discover your purpose in life. Have you ever wondered, “If I only know my life’s purpose?”
I like reading, but mostly I like learning. I used to pursue anything that I found interesting, for example, photography, videography, or network marketing, only to find myself giving up after some time or changing direction. This left me feeling frustrated, lacking self-belief and purpose, the worst feeling ever. I wanted to discover why we sometimes give up when learning particular things. I eventually uncovered one of the reasons is a lack of motivation and inspiration, but more precisely, a lack of purpose.
Here are two lighters. The purpose of these lighters is to make a flame, Isn’t it? One is dead, and the other works perfectly. One is fulfilling its purpose, and the other one is not. I knew someone that was constantly overlooked for promotion or an opportunity at work. This guy was a great storyteller, but the saddest is that he never had the chance to grow his skill and use it to help others. Sadly, he died with this gift. Have you felt that your abilities and strengths are not recognized, and you are slowly dying inside? You lack energy and zest for life.
Do you want to sleepwalk through life without energy, passion, or purpose? I believe that taking up a leadership role within your toastmaster’s club is one of the most effective ways to lead you to your life’s purpose. For example, if you want to learn more about leading a team or serving as a CEO, the president is the perfect fit. If you want to learn more about marketing, VPPR is your role, and there are many more. And the best is that you don’t need any prior experience to do this; you don’t even need matric or a degree to get started, you get support, and everyone is not expecting you to be perfect.
Not only do you benefit from the more experienced toastmasters and mentors within our club and the community, but from other positive people that do this out of a love of learning and helping others as part of their purpose in life. If you do join toastmasters, you will develop personally. You will move closer to your purpose in life and live a peaceful, joyful life.
